**Family Practitioner (Temporary), Hackney London**

**Purpose of the post**:
To promote child development, provide positive learning experiences and follow guidelines from Early Years Foundation Stage, Every Child Matters, and Every Parent Matters. Help parents develop child-centred parenting skills; increase knowledge of child development; support children in accessing the curriculum and life opportunities; and enhance relationships between parents, children, and professionals through effective communication, collaboration, and networking. Provide evidence-based interventions to support parents in developing the skills and strategies needed to parent their child, as identified by Multidisciplinary Family Support Team meetings or the lead agency. Assess the needs of children, parents/carers, and families to provide appropriate support.
- To support families in accessing and utilising third-sector family support services in their area, including information and advice services, local community groups and centres, health services, childcare and education services, adult learning, training, and employment services, and to play a significant role in the step-down process from statutory to mainstream services.

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- To act as the lead professional for individual families, coordinating and sharing information to support a team around the child and facilitating one-on-one targeted work in the home, group work, and coordinated services and activities that address caregiving barriers such as housing and financial matters that impact parenting.
- To deliver and coordinate parenting groups to help parents/carers understand their child's needs and strengthen their parenting skills using appropriate assessment tools such as the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) to create individual plans with agreed outcomes, targets, and review dates that ensure the welfare and safety of the family.
- To work in partnership with senior family support workers to deliver and evaluate evidence-based parenting and family programs and groups that meet the needs of the community, taking responsibility for ensuring that appropriate safeguarding procedures are followed.
- To create a safe and protective environment and, when necessary, take responsibility for ensuring that appropriate safeguarding procedures are adhered to.
- To work flexibly as required by the service and participate in children's centre and multi-agency meetings and events to contribute to the agenda and advocate on behalf of children and parents/carers.
- To ensure that a father-friendly approach is embedded in service delivery.

**Qualifications**

Level 3 qualification in childcare & education, health, social care, education, or parenting and family work.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary contract

**Salary**: £19.40-£24.91 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
