**Main purpose of post**

Reporting to the Senior CCTV and Emergency Response Controller, the post holder will operate and monitor the 24x7 Neath Port Talbot public space CCTV environment.

The post holder will respond to emergency major incident reporting and direct links to Emergency Planning Team out of hours on call officers.

**The role**

The successful applicant will join the CCTV team, being responsible for the efficient operation of the CCTV monitoring facility and out of hours emergency response, acting independently and autonomously, making decisions where required.

Controllers liaise with the public, internal and external services, local police, local businesses, Councillors and the public.

Controllers complete all necessary administration tasks to conform to work practices which includes - daily logs; CCTV footage management; incident/Maintenance log; out of hours building maintenance fault/issue reporting; and the booking in and out of visitors.

Controllers work 12-hour shifts, either 07.00-19.00 or 19.00-07.00, in a pattern of 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts, 4 shifts off. Shift and weekend allowances are applied accordingly. Controllers are required to work on weekends and bank holidays as necessary to maintain continuous service operation. This will include some aspects of lone working.

**Experience and education**

Controllers will have a minimum of 4 GCSE’s C grade or higher.

Digitally literate for data entry and communication and be able to maintain accurate records.

Ability to work and concentrate under pressure and to cope calmly with disturbing incidents will be essential.

SIA CCTV accreditation preferred although commitment to obtaining this qualification within 12 months would be acceptable.
