Bedford, United Kingdom Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are well established providers of healthcare in both Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire prison services and we are delighted to now be delivering NHS healthcare into primary care services at HMP Peterborough.

We are excited to offer three advanced clinical practitioner roles; one in HMP Bedford and 2 in HMP Peterborough. This post is based at HMP Bedford, a local remand prison for men aged 18 and over.

If you are an experienced nurse who enjoys working autonomously as well as part of a large integrated healthcare team, then this could be the role for you.

Prison healthcare offers access to healthcare that is equitable to the community and these roles offer the opportunity to make a profound difference to a vulnerable population who may not have been able to previously access robust healthcare.

We are looking for qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioners (or working towards this). If you are an experienced compassionate nurse who can demonstrate highly developed clinical skills and be able to think in a critical way, then we would like to hear from you. If you have not considered working in a prison before then this is an ideal time to try something new.

**You will be an experienced practitioner who is confident in**:

- Managing minor illness
- Maintain and monitor high standards of care
- Clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care
- Exceptional critical thinking skills and decision making processes

**This is a dynamic autonomous role with the ability to**:

- Assess, diagnosis, plan, implement and evaluate interventions/treatments for patients with complex needs
- Proactively identify, diagnose and manage treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition
- Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly
- Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating both drug
- and non-drug-based treatment methods into a management plan
- Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols
- Work with patients in order to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments
- Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication on medication regimens, side-effects and interactions
- Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
- Assess, identify and refer patients presenting with mental health needs
- Implement and participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes
- Demonstrate safe, competent clinical decision-making and deliver expert care, including assessment, diagnostic skills, treatment and evaluation
- Support the delivery of policy and procedures and providing nurse leadership as required.

NHFT are experienced providers of healthcare in secured services and you will be joining a highly skilled multidisciplinary healthcare team.

We are an organisation that believes in delivering trauma informed care to make a difference for you, with you. We are committed to putting people first by delivering care with respect and compassion to improve lives. Our staff are dedicated to ensuring equality for all.

For further information on the advertised role, please refer to the job description located under the Supporting Documents heading. The full person specification can be accessed under the ‘About You’ Section of the document.
