The Legacy Mentor role should appeal to experienced Healthcare Professionals who may be in the late stages of their career. You will be helping Newly Qualified Nurses, and those in other clinical roles by imparting your knowledge, skills and experience through coaching and supporting them in the early stages of their career.

You will need to demonstrate empathy and patience, be passionate about your profession and be able to provide pastoral support to others. We can all reflect on the importance of Mentors and role models in our own careers, and this is an opportunity to have that kind of influence on the incoming generation as they set out on a career in health and care.

This role will be key in supporting Newly Qualified colleagues to stay and stay well. You will need to be confident in building relationships and collaborating with others and you will be providing coaching and mentoring. We are happy to provide training for someone with the right skills and attitude needed for this role.

You will work in a range of specialisms and environments across the Trust using a coaching model. In addition to mentoring Newly Qualified Professionals, you will also support practice placements for learners, and liaise with other practice placement support staff to ensure consistency of support across the setting.

You will either have a Degree or relevant experience and hold a current Professional Registration. In addition, you should have either have an accredited teaching qualification or experience in supporting learners in practice.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital.

The Trust provides services in all of the surgical and medical specialties common to a District General Hospital with some specialist services. The Trust serves the whole of the local population currently in excess of 250,000 residents which geographically covers populations in England and North Wales.

The Trust strives to continuously improve and sustain the quality of its services for patients, providing care to more than 445,000 patients per year, with almost 4,000 staff working together putting quality and patient safety, at the heart of everything we do. The organisation provides a wide range of services offering health care to the whole spectrum of the population from birth to the end of life.
