Description

Echion is seeking an enthusiastic, diligent person to join their team as a Laboratory Apprentice, having the opportunity to make an impact on the smooth day-to-day running of the laboratory, while undertaking Level 3 Apprenticeship training. This will be a varied role where health and safety knowledge will be gained alongside more practical tasks.

This opportunity will suit someone with a keen eye for detail, observant nature, and confident approach to highlighting concerns and asking questions.

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Aiding with calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

2. Updating and auditing the chemical inventory system.

3. Monitoring and ordering lab consumables.

4. Help with monitoring H&S in the lab (Observations, First Aid box checks).

5. Accepting deliveries and managing the “goods in” process.

6. Help to maintain a tidy and organized laboratory, including managing lab waste.

7. Aiding the lab manager as required (manual handling tasks, servicing, and repair of equipment).

8. Changing gas cylinders.

9. Other appropriate tasks will be performed as required to support learning in accordance with the Apprenticeship syllabus.

Entry requirements
- Apprentices without level 2 English and Math’s will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and Math’s minimum requirement is Entry Level 3.

Training to be provided
- The learner will be studying the Laboratory Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
- Day release to West Suffolk College.
- Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.
