**Location**: Chapel Allerton Hospital JOB PURPOSE To manage and monitor the efficient purchasing of drug inventory within the inpatient dispensary to ensure mínimal wastage whilst maintaining a reliable and effective service To manage the progression of overdue orders and the timely collation and dissemination of information relating to drug supply problems. To provide support to the Specialist Pharmacy Technician in the sourcing of new or alternative product supply, the purchase of unlicensed medicines and to assist in the implementation of new drug contracts and policy changes. JOB DIMENSIONS The post is responsible for the supervision and development of the Pharmacy Support Team assigned to goods in. The Inpatient Pharmacies have a stockholding of approximately £1million The post holder is responsible for ensuring that all drug orders are placed in accordance with LTH Standing Financial Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY FINANCE/ AUDIT To ensure that ordering of medicines from all suppliers meet agreed performance criteria and all legal and statutory controls. Be responsible for supervising the placement of orders by Pharmacy Support staff and for ensuring the purchasing and management of pharmaceuticals within the dispensary meet with best practice initiatives. Work with the Specialist Pharmacy Technician to support effective purchase of newly introduced medicines To work with the Specialist Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Inventory Manager to support the efficient implementation of new drug contracts. To work with the Specialist Pharmacy Technician to support the efficient implementation of clinical policy changes in pharmacy.

Support the timely management of Drug Alerts according to standard procedures. To manage the chasing of overdue orders to ensure continuity of service and be responsible for ensuring the Specialist Pharmacy Technician is informed of supply problems. Support the Specialist Pharmacy Technician in the management of shortages trust-wide by assisting in the sourcing of alternative supplies/ products. To ensure the appropriate investigations and actions are taken to enable off contract purchases and reclaims of monies to be made.

Collate and disseminate information on drug supply problems to all customers to meet the parameters laid down by the Specialist Pharmacy Technician Be responsible for providing support to the Specialist Pharmacy Technician in the sourcing of new drugs. To be responsible for ordering unlicensed medicines for supply through Moor House in order to meet LTH Trust Unlicensed Medicines Policy and Standard Operating Procedures. To liaise with Quality Control and Unlicensed Medicines Team as appropriate. To continually monitor usage trends, review and update appropriate areas on pharmacy computer system to minimise waste and maximise supply.

To be responsible for identifying slow moving stock and short dated stock and assist the Specialist Pharmacy Technician in its relocation or sale to minimise wastage. To support the monitoring of supplier performance in accordance with agreed parameters and liaise with Specialist Technician and Pharmacy Inventory Manager to identify suppliers who fail to meet the required standard. To ensure costing of all stock (medicines and consumables) are costed accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner. Resolve immediate problems with out of stock medicines, liaising with wards, pharmacists and suppliers where necessary.

Performs clerical tasks associated with the dispensary e.g. filing, expiry date checks and data collection for statistics. Participates in general housekeeping e.g. cleaning and tidying work areas.

Participates in the weekend and Bank Holiday working on a rotational basis. Undertakes other duties associated with providing an efficient Pharmacy Service to patients and wards as allocated by the Specialist Pharmacy Technician or Deputy. To participate in project groups as required. To assist in the implementation of audit recommendations.

To undertake daily Stocktaking and investigation of any discrepancies To ensure all items allocated to the store have a stock location assigned To monitor the Excess Stock at location report and Stock Management analysis report and escalate any concerns to the Specialist Pharmacy Technician To support the Specialist Pharmacy Technician through good stock management to meet Stock Turn and Stockholding KPIs on Dashboard Health and Safety/Risk Management All staff are responsible for working with their colleagues to maintain and improve the quality of services provided to our patients and other service users. This includes complying at all times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Policies, including Health and Safety policies, in particular by following agreed safe working procedures, and reporting incidents using the Trust Incident Reporting system.
