We undertake accredited workplace needs assessments for people with disabilities and personalised training to support those with disabilities in the workplace.

**Salary**

Starting £23,000. Rising to £25,000 after 1 year in the role, having proven your ability to undertake assessments for a range of disabilities and produce comprehensive reports with no supervision required.

Training is continuous to ensure you can independently undertake and write reports for the most complex of disabilities and disability-related adjustments required within the workplace.

**About the Role**

A Trainee Assessor will undergo an intensive training programme and will ultimately be responsible for providing high quality Workplace Needs Assessments in accordance with Department for Work and Pensions and Access to Work Grant guidelines. These assessments are to be conducted under the high-quality standards determined by YorLinc, in accordance with industry standards for workplace assessments.

Every assessment is concluded with the production of a Holistic Assessment Report providing an outline of the client’s disability, detail of the impact of disability on the various aspects of their job role and includes recommendations and costings for the range of strategies and support that aim to lower the disability-related barriers to work.

**The Main Duties of an Assessor will include**:
Undertaking, at minimum, an agreed number of Workplace Assessments per week, along with any subsequent follow up work and queries. A workplace needs assessment includes a small amount of preparatory work, conducting the assessment interview and writing a Workplace Needs Assessment report. Other duties include:

- Being conversant with and complying with all company policies, procedures, and appraisal process.
- Adhering to DWP/ATW guidance, KPIs and deadlines.
- Maintaining comprehensive records and files and at all times act with absolute integrity and confidentiality to protect personal and sensitive information.
- Responding in a timely manner to queries arising from assessments.
- Evaluating assistive technology and support available to disabled people in the workplace.
- Sharing knowledge of technology, support, and best practice with colleagues.
- Maintaining CPD to enhance competence, skills, knowledge and understanding of the available support, guidance and range of disabilities.
- Attending both internal and external training events.
- Gaining knowledge and understanding of the reasonable adjustments that employers are able to implement.
- Contributing to the development of the business and its policies, practices, and procedures.
- Contribute to the training and development of other members of staff.
- Liaising with funding bodies, companies, and support services such as Assistive Technology Service Providers (ATSPs), ergonomic specialists, and sensory impairment equipment specialists.

The above list is not exhaustive. All staff are to contribute to the changing needs of the business.

**The Assessor Training Programme**
- Familiarisation of documents such as policies, procedures, guidance documents and samples of workplace assessment reports.
- Familiarisation and understanding of the assistive technology, ergonomic equipment, and sensory impairment devices.
- Observations of assessments undertaken by experienced assessors and review of the corresponding report.
- Writing sections of the reports under assessor supervision.
- Participating in information gathering, considering options for solutions, and concluding recommendations during assessment, under assessor supervision.
- Writing reports under the supervision of an experienced assessor.
- Being observed and supervised to undertake assessments independently.

Trainees will create and maintain a personal development portfolio documenting their progress to becoming an experienced assessor and their continuous professional development.

**Location**

The role is based predominantly in the Leeds area, although travel to other locations in the wider Yorkshire region is likely. Much of the training is likely to take place remotely at home, in a Leeds office location and YorLinc’s office at the University of Hull.

- A full clean UK driving licence.
