**The Organisation**

Palm Cove Society (PCS) was established in 2007 to support vulnerable individuals. Since then, we have supported refugees, unaccompanied asylum seekers, victims of domestic violence and survivors of modern-day slavery. Also, through our outreach service we support survivors of modern slavery across West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and the Humber.

As an organisation we are committed to lifelong learning and all our staff receive regular training in a wide range of topics. We also provide access to an Employment Assistance Programme for all our staff and to wellbeing courses and sessions. The organisation has a structured progression path for staff who wish to develop further.

**Job / Role Summary**

The post holder will act as a member of our Senior Management Team (SMT) utilising their skills in supporting the executive directors to ensure that the organisation has robust financial systems and is compliant in all financial matters.

The post holder will maintain and develop effective policies, procedures, and systems within the finance department. They will have the skills and experience necessary to implement and develop quality systems in the department and throughout the organisation.

They will manage the Finance Department and be responsible for ensuring all accounting deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld.

The post holder will be responsible for leading the finance team, identifying staff training needs, supporting staff to maintain the standards required and staff reviews.

The post holder must have extensive knowledge of accounting and monetary management and a knowledge or desire to learn about Community Interest Companies and be willing to undertake appropriate training updates.

The post holder should also have a range of personal skills and attributes including approachability, good sense of humour, objectivity, attention to detail along with relevant financial qualifications and experience.

Experience of working on government contracts would be advantageous.

The post holder will receive ongoing support from the CEO & directors in the form of training, guidance, and regular communications. The post holder will act as the link to the executive directors.

The post holder will be expected to undertake all duties outlined above and in addition, some other duties not outlined above will need to be undertaken as requested by the executive directors.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide oversight to the corporate finance, financial control functions
- Ensure that the organisation meets all its statutory and regulatory compliance.
- Lead on organisational budget creation; developing and strengthening of budget monitoring.
- Creation and analysis of forecasts.
- Analysis of variance and production of reports as required.
- Responsible for the management of short-term cash requirements, and long-term financial

Planning.
- Provide leadership to optimise the financial performance of the organisation.
- Provide leadership to the finance team.
- Drive on financial planning, offering the senior leadership analysis and advice on expansion
- Ensure that all financial systems are working efficiently.
- Production of monthly management accounts.
- Ensure sufficient controls are in place and accounts are regularly reconciled.
- Identify and highlight key risks and contribute to the development of controls and actions to mitigate against the risks.
- Responsible for oversight of purchasing and supplier relationships.
- Management and coaching of staff to ensure the development of staff.
- As a member of the Senior Management Team contribute to the overall strategy and running of the

organisation.

**Education**

Educated to Degree level or equivalent

Relevant financial qualifications

**Knowledge & Experience**
- At least 5 years' experience of working in finance, the last 3 in a senior position.
- Good working knowledge of Quick Books.
- Advanced skills in Excel.
- Demonstrable experience of working towards targets and tight deadlines.
- Demonstrable experience of management and team working.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a multi-agency environment, partnership working and collaboration.
- Experience of risk analysis.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience of embedding good practice within an organization.
- Good problem-solving skills, with experience of dealing with complex issues.
- Understanding of and adherence to confidentiality and maintenance of professional boundaries.
- Experience of contributing or working on funding bids (Desirable).
- Experience of leading a team (Essential)
