Location: Sellafield, West Cumbria

The Emergency Management (EM) Planner performs planning and process development in one of three functional areas to include emergency planning, emergency drills/exercises and/or emergency facilities and equipment. The role is competent and proficient in one of three major functional areas in emergency preparedness. The position takes a support role and requires management direction and guidance.
- Responsibilities include:
- To assist in developing, conducting, evaluating & reporting on emergency drills and exercises.
- To support developing, revising, and maintaining emergency preparedness processes, plans and procedures
- To support designing, building and maintaining compliant and effective emergency facilities, developing and implementing an emergency equipment asset care programme which provides confidence that emergency equipment will operate as designed when required.
- To assist in completing hazard and consequence assessments, develop emergency actions levels for emergency classification and define adequate on-site countermeasures and off-site protective actions recommendations
- To contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous business improvement of relevant systems and processes, in order to support enhancement initiatives in the company, ensuring value for money.
- To assist in developing, maintaining and producing regular Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) which measure and reflect team, departmental and SL objectives.
- To perform self-assessments and assurance audits, produce associated reports and action plans to implement required improvements.
- To participate as an umpire and/or evaluator in drills and exercises.
- To participate on emergency management working groups as assigned.
- Essential Skills- Experience in planning and process development which may include Emergency Planning.
- A degree of organisation and planning skills of self and others to meet service delivery to time schedule.
- Ability to think logically and analytically to resolve problems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Good communication skills (written and oral).
- Self-motivated, demonstrating high levels of resilience, honesty and integrity, with the ability to provide constructive feedback to individuals and groups.
- Planning and presenting information to high standards.
- Security Check (SC) Clearance or the ability to achieve and a willingness to attain Developed Vetting (DV) Clearance if needed.
- Desirable Skills- Stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Ability to deputise for colleagues.
- Flexible attendance (to support shift rotas and drills/exercises etc).
- Demonstrable evidence in planning and implementing emergency exercises/drills.
- Experience of working in an operational environment.
