The health and wellbeing of our colleagues is paramount, and a key people priority. As the Head of Occupational Health and Wellbeing, and a key member of the People Experience team, this role provides the opportunity for strategic and operational leadership. This role is responsible for bringing together the range of expertise from across the Trust and delivering clear integrated occupational health and wellbeing strategies to support the delivery of exceptional care.

We are looking for a person that is creative, proactive and passionate about staff health and wellbeing, and able to take the lead on occupational health and employee wellbeing across the Trust. Ensuring health and wellbeing initiatives become embedded and part of our culture. In addition to developing and refining a cohesive support package, for both preventative and responsive support, including critical incidents, the role requires developing the trust wellbeing brand and to regularly be on our hospital sites, working in collaboration with all our teams. The successful applicant will need to have experience of leading an occupational health and wellbeing service, in either the private or public sector.

They will need to have excellent people skills to build good working relationships with customers, both internal and external, sound knowledge of occupational health systems and processes, and experience of leading a team to deliver against corporate objectives.

Effectively lead, manage and be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality standards across the occupational health and wellbeing services in a way that is responsive to the needs of the organisations.

Work closely with relevant heads of departments to ensure that clients understand and adhere to OH policy and standards and intervene as appropriate.

Develop, write and advise on all areas of occupational health and help formulate long term H&WB/OH strategies for the organisation.

Manage the OH business support function, including procurement and provision of external business contracts, leading on tenders and negotiating external contracts with private, NHS, non-NHS, local authorities and commercial contractors (and ensure a smooth transition through decision making process to the management of contracts).

Develop and manage the team’s annual business plan, progress and dashboard reporting and risk and issue management.

Be responsible for the management of multi stranded budgets for several services including the OH&WB dept., internal SLAs and external contracts.

Manage business returns, including planning and workforce returns for NHS and non NHS contracts.

Work with senior managers to develop the services to maximise the potential for business growth

Form an integral part of mobilising staff testing, helpdesk provision, managing the, vaccination programmes and the delivery of other staff specific responses and requirements.

Develop and manage a content management system to ensure OH information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the team, directorates and both trusts.

Provide leadership and development of the OH&WB service.
