The Community Mental Health Service for Older People has a fantastic opportunity for a registered mental health professional (nursing, occupational therapy or social work) to join our friendly team as an Operational Team Leader. The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service, working alongside an experienced team leader and supported by the Local Leadership Team and Service Manager. You will manage a team of clinical staff and be responsible for p supporting individuals to reach their potential and to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality care.

The Service offers older adults and their carers assessment and intervention for functional mental health conditions and complex dementia. We also provide the memory service to adults of all ages.

The ideal applicant will have extensive experience of working as a band 6 practitioner in a community mental health service. You will be competent at managing a complex caseload and have a good understanding of the health and social needs of older adults. You will also have supervisory and leadership experience.

You will line manage clinical staff.

You will utilise data to monitor the performance of the service against performance and quality indicators.

You will use your leadership skills to motivate and support high levels of performance amongst your team and delivery of quality care.

You will ensure that Trust policies are adhered to and take appropriate action where performance and conduct issues arise.

You will have a lead role in the recruitment and retention of staff.

You will be required to liaise and collaborate with other services to promote and enhance patient experience and recovery.

You will ensure clear and accurate communication to the team and be able to escalate concerns to the senior management team as needed.

You will work with the Patient Safety and Quality team to improve clinical quality and safety, ensuring the risk register is kept up to date and incidents are reported and investigated in a timely manner and that learning is shared with the team.

You will ensure staff receive regular supervision and appraisals.

You will work with the clinical and admin leads to ensure the team works to continuously improve the safe and effective delivery of care and that the patient and carer experience is positive.

You will ensure complaints are dealt with in a timely manner and any learning is shared and embedded.

Planning & Organisation
- effectively manage own clinical and managerial workload- plan and organise the delivery of clinical services that meet key performance and quality indicators
- support the day-to-day delivery of services
- implement changes to policy and practice as required

Patient care
- assess the care needs of service users
- plan individual packages of care, organise case reviews and conferences
- undertake clinical risk assessment of vulnerable adults
- meet safeguarding responsibilities of vulnerable adults and children
- offer joint working and consultation to team members

Policy development
- Assists the Service Manager in ensuring team adherence to policy
- Disseminate and communicate effectively with team members around any policy changes or changes to practice

Finances & resources
- an authorised signatory for staff expenses and procurement
- authorisation of work rosters

Human resources
- Line management of clinical and admin staff
- assist with recruitment or permanent and temporary staff
