- POSITION: _CATERING ASSISTANT with responsibility for cleaning Classrooms_

**OUTLINE**: Help with maintaining a clean environment in the Nursery, help prepare lunch and tea for the children, maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, plan menus and ensure that all necessary ingredients are available for cooking activities, snack and mealtimes.

**EXPECTATIONS**:
1. Clear and clean the classroom area after lunch in readiness for the children to use.

2. Prepare lunch for the children on a daily basis.

3. Prepare tea if advance preparation is necessary.

4. Prepare snack.

5. Prepare and help plan snacks and meals for trips and parties.

6. Accommodate children with special dietary requirements.

7. Prepare and serve non-vegetarian, vegetarian and special foods.

8. Be aware of Food Hygiene regulations and where applicable attend a training course to attain a food hygiene certificate.

9. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen area.

10. Understanding the aim and ethos of the Nursery

11. Understand and implement the Nurseries Policies and Procedures.

12. Implement and ensure that others implement Kitchen Policies and Procedures.

13. Ensure the smooth running of the kitchen

14. Be responsible for ordering food on a weekly basis ensuring that all ingredients are available for the meals for the following week and for any cooking activities.

15. Being an integral part of creating new menus and reviewing new dishes

16. Happy and eager to learn and try new dishes

17. Working as part of a team within the whole Nursery

18. Working independently to perform all kitchen duties

19. Provide food as stated on the weekly menu.

20. Be adaptable if ingredients are not delivered.

21. Assist with serving lunch to the children.

22. Attend meetings with parents/carers when asked by the manager or deputy.

23. Write and maintain records of cleanliness, food temperatures, temperature logs, and all documents as stipulated by the Policies and Procedures.

24. Report to Manager and Deputy regularly on personal progress, team issues and the general running of the kitchen

25. Report absenteeism as soon as possible

26. Ensure that mobiles phones are not used in the Nursery during work hours

27. Ensure that all personal appointments are made outside work hours

28. Maintain professional conduct at all times

29. Inform the Manager and Deputy of the need to replace resources

30. Be responsible for keeping up with professional issues, courses and magazines

31. Understand and implement confidentiality at all times

32. Be punctual

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £15,912.00-£21,673.60 per year
