Role Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Bid Writer to join our passionate and driven team based at our Ipswich office.
We are looking for an experienced Bid Writer to join our Client Solutions team, to support business development and retention targets. The role involves supporting higher value bids and the creation of impactful written content for sales responses and proposals across many different service lines and market sectors. Typical opportunities will be within the core FM market sector involving single services, bundled soft and hard FM and full TFM services. The role will also incorporate contribution to the development of written sales collateral for our Knowledge Management Hub.
You will be a team player who is flexible and innovative and keen to both influence and learn. You will be experienced in engaging and working with appropriate stakeholders and ensuring that the correct processes and governance are followed. You will produce concise proposals delivering consistent “win messaging” and benefits to meet specific customer objectives. In your role you will:
- Work with the bidding team to develop a winning proposal
- Write content that ‘sells’ to the customer and reflects the solution
- Ensure consistent high quality submissions
- Support continuous improvement
Contribute to the ongoing development of the BD Knowledge Hub

Key Responsibilities:
- Development of responses that are attractive, concise and bring out the benefits of the OCS offer with a focus on the highest quality of language and technical accuracy
- Re-write/edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, ensuring consistency of response in terms of themes, messages, key phrases and keywords
- Undertake client and market research to support bid development using this research to create compelling responses
- Manage the written and editorial aspects of the bid proposal development process, checking drafts for readability, clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and formatting. Meticulously review content before inclusion
- Understand customer requirements to ensure the written bid is consistent with the win themes and reflects OCS. This may involve site visits and proactively chasing colleagues to ensure their support
- Develop bid submission and presentation that ‘sells’ with clear customer benefits
About You:
- _Applicants must have the right to work in the UK_
- Degree level or equivalent
- Member of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) desirable
- Worked in facilities bid management
- Proven ability to work within a team in a highly customer-focused environment.
- Track record of performance delivery in a sales environment.
- Organised, with the ability to influence the sales process
- Experienced in using MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills, writing in an easy-to-understand and methodical way
- To have the ability to convey ideas and concepts, process, think laterally and display creative flair
- The ability to continuously push for enhancing all forms of output through innovation and critical evaluations of content
- Excellent communication, written and spoken English essential with the ability to spot and correct spelling and grammatical errors in text written by others and create compelling text themselves
- Good organisation skills, to plan and manage the process and milestones
- Impeccable time management, allowing prioritisation of a complex and varied workload
- Ambition to succeed and win work
- Team player, also able to engage and manage other people’s input into the bid
