**About The Role**

This post is advertised on a fixed term contract until 30 June 2024, whilst the current postholder is on secondment to another post within the Council.

You would be working as a member of a multi-disciplinary, team of professionals to improve outcomes for children under 5 and their families. You would be based in East Locality Children’s Centres, which cover Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth, but would be expected to support families in all areas of the borough.

This will include an assessment of needs, providing practical support and advice, the implementation of planned programmes of work with families and the monitoring and evaluation of progress.

You would hold, manage and prioritise a caseload (approximately 10-12 cases) and
work alongside families in their homes and their communities.

You would also deliver evidence-based parenting groups for families with children under 5, as per the needs of the service.

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. To hold, manage and prioritise a caseload (approximately 10-12 cases) and work alongside families in their homes and communities.

2. To undertake home, family and/or parenting assessments to determine the outcomes to be achieved for children / families and inform the work to be undertaken with a family, to achieve change and reach a point where the family can function effectively.

3. To use the Common Assessment Framework / Early Help Assessment and other relevant assessment tools to identify needs, risk, vulnerability and resilience factors for children and families and devise action plans to address these.

4. To provide brief 1:1 practical and emotional support to parent/carers and help them to develop positive parenting skills and coping strategies particularly in relation to providing good care for their children.

**Your Skills**:
1. You will have experience of assessing and managing risk and vulnerability in order to safeguard children. You will be confident in assessing child development milestones.

2. You will have experience of holding a caseload and having accountability and responsibility for work with families with multiple problems.

3. You will have experience of outreach or community-based work, including in working in families’ own homes.

4. You will have experience of delivering multi-agency intervention packages to families with multiple needs. This would be achieved by partnership working with a range of partner agencies. This might include working as part of a ‘Team Around the Family’.

**Professional Qualifications**:
**Desirable qualifications include**:

- NVQ in child and social care, NNEB awards, certificates, and diplomas in counselling, play or art therapy.
- Professional qualification in social care or education or health or youth and community (to at least NVQ Level 4 or equivalent)

Enhanced DBS
