You'll have a fantastic opportunity to lead on a range of high profile and varied international projects, with regular travel to client locations across the globe for periods of 7-21 days at a time and at locations which may be remote or potentially in inhospitable terrain, at altitude or generally not well served by transport infrastructure. Specifically, you will have the opportunity to undertake the following:
- Managing / overseeing the aquatic aspects of projects, providing survey scopes and overseeing in-country specialists undertake the work (for international projects)
- Preparation of aquatic related inputs to fee proposals, report writing and technical review of peer and sub-contractor reports.
- Supervision and mentoring of ecology staff. Depending on skills and experience, the role may also include staff management and leading work on aquatic specialisms.
- Scheduling, managing and ensuring delivery of aquatic survey work packages on time and budget, potentially using in-house or sub-contractor staff.
- The role will involve working with other team members located across Europe and is likely to require travel across the UK and overseas (Africa, Asia and South America), depending on project location.

**About you**:

- A good working knowledge of aquatic sampling and survey techniques is a must, so too are good report writing skills. You will need to be capable of writing survey scopes for overseas survey teams, overseeing surveys, then providing the final technical review of the outputs. You should be able to demonstrate competence in a range of different areas of ecological consultancy, such as fish and benthic survey design, collation and interpretation of baseline results, impact assessment especially in respect of environmental flow impacts on fish from hydro power schemes. It would also be highly beneficial if the applicant also had experience of designing mitigation measures for river systems, and other aquatic environments.- Additionally we'd hope that you could demonstrate:
- A passion for aquatic ecology, for delivering high quality work.
- Demonstrable aquatic field survey skills for example: fish survey and interpretation of results.
- Demonstrable experience in project management, planning/undertaking work in line with health and safety procedures, budget management and technical report preparation.
- Experience of working overseas on aquatic based projects.
- Work experience within international sectors such as hydropower, mining/minerals, rail and roads etc.
- Relevant degree level qualification plus appropriate level of membership of CIEEM or equivalent.
- Full driving licence.
