THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to join leading fundraising consultancy, Compton on one of its flagship Hospice clients, Mountbatten Isle of Wight. As Head of Fundraising, you will work alongside a team of Compton consultants and in-house colleagues to deliver exceptional fundraising performance for Mountbatten’s innovative end of life care services, on behalf of Compton.

Leading by example, for both your Compton colleagues and in-house team members, you will help them further grow and develop relationships with major donors, corporate partners, community-based organisations, and grassroots supporters. A creative thinker you will initiate and co-ordinate contact with prospective donors and fundraising volunteer leaders, as well as imanaging the fundraising team as they pursue a wide range of fundraising income streams.

ABOUT MOUNTBATTEN

Mountbatten's mission is to provide and to promote good care and support for those people living with, affected by, or curious about death, dying and bereavement across the Isle of Wight.

A hospice at the forefront of innovation in end-of-life care, the Hospice is in a unique position to create a model of care for the aging population crisis. Established 45 years ago, it enjoys strong support from the island community as it’s only hospice.

The Mountbatten fundraising team is a dynamic team of 11 - who work hard to generate £3 million per annum for the Hospice.

The team organises and delivers one of the leading mass participation events in the UK, Walk the Wight - raising £250K annually for the Hospice. Although a well-established brand in the community, there is still opportunity to develop further.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Proven track record of leading fundraising teams to meet fundraising goals
- A collegiate approach to working in a clinical setting
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Strong relationship management and influencing skills
- Target-driven, with experience of setting, monitoring, and reporting team outcomes across income streams
- Ability to balance competing priorities and work under pressure with humour and resilience
- Ability to anticipate problems and formulate solutions
- A practical understanding of fundraising and charity regulation and best practice regarding prospecting, stewardship, and reporting.
- IT and database skills including knowledge of CRMs such as Raiser’s Edge
- Good understanding of financial processes relating to fundraising
