**What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?**

The Senior Technologist role will assist the team of Scientists to develop technical knowledge of New Categories products and lab methodologies in the delivery of distinct scientific activities, highlighted as requirements under a Project Science Plan, to ensure technology and product platforms are developed in line with R&D portfolio and broader business needs.

**What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?**

The Senior Technologist role will assist the Senior Scientist and Scientist roles across multiple projects, with a range of activities (e.g study set-up, shipment of samples, generation of claims substantiation data, and data processing) to aid Product Development, Toxicology, Regulatory Engagement and marketing claims, whilst working to improve personal development through gaining product knowledge.

**WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR**
- Accountability for the delivery of assigned activities across a portfolio of projects and activities within the New Categories product science portfolio.
- To have the technical understanding of workstreams within the science plan of a given project in order to deliver the assigned tasks within the required timescales and in line with product launch target dates.
- Have awareness of standard processes and compliance using technical knowledge and broad scientific principles to ensure effective delivery of an appropriate given task.
- Assist and work closely with the more senior scientist roles within the team with a focus on upskilling personal breadth and depth of technical knowledge in new categories product development.
- To have an understanding of testing activities, methodologies, and equipment capabilities to carry out assigned duties to fulfil project needs.
- Hold lab expertise in operating the required machinery/testing capabilities in order to perform assigned tasks in the required time frames.
- Minimize risk through raising issues with workstream delivery to the senior scientist roles for the purpose of collecting any difficulties and filling knowledge gaps.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all technology and compositions which ensure the uniqueness of BAT output.

**EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**

**ESSENTIAL**

**Experience Required**
- Ability to deliver against a portfolio of tasks within defined timescales.
- Experience of basic scientific laboratory techniques (e.g analytical or biological).
- Some experience in the interpretation of scientific data.
- Broad understanding of product testing approaches and data interpretation.
- Broad knowledge of product research and related methodologies.

**Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required**
- Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with internal/external partners.
- Ability to plan and prioritise tasks based on business need.

**Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required**
- Degree-level Qualification in a science field (i.e., Chemistry, material science, food chemistry etc).
