The purpose of the job is to improve the health and wellbeing of children, young people, and families, and addressing inequalities through the delivery of the healthy child programme and working as part of a skill mixed team. The 0-19 Childrens Public Health Service Assistant for infant feeding is a member of the 0-19 childrens public health service and will be based with one of the four locality teams working across the borough of North Tyneside, promoting, and supporting best practice in all aspects of infant feeding. To assist the Infant Feeding Specialist (IFS) and wider 0-19 team in delivering a range of services to improve health outcomes for children and families by supporting, inspiring, and encouraging families to achieve their feeding goals. This includes the support and promotion of breast feeding across the borough working in line with service policy and the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative standards.

To assist with a range of tasks including administrative work, breast pump loans, supporting families in their homes and supporting the IFS with staff training. Promote the 0-19 service offer to families in North Tyneside To help promote healthy lifestyles for families in North Tyneside at health events, in schools and community venues. To help with general administrative duties for the team, including purchasing resources using methods such as petty cash. To complete data entry on SystmOne and other relevant methods of recording adhering to the record keeping guidelines To conform to policy and guidance on obtaining consent and maintaining confidentiality To be aware of safeguarding policy and procedures and understand the importance of escalating concerns to minimise risk to children.

Works to policies and standards in infant feeding across the service. Works closely with Infant Feeding Specialist to support families. Provides support to 0-19 staff for infant feeding. Supports with Baby Friendly audits.

Consistently considers the needs of babies, their mothers and families are met through effective integrated working. Supports peer led breastfeeding support groups and virtual infant feeding sessions. Assists with breast pump loans, as well as annual servicing of electric breast pumps. Promotes breast feeding campaigns and aids in facilitating events.

Achievement of service delivery targets and personal targets set in annual IPR. Positive contribution to integrated working and the outcomes indicators of the 0-19 Locality Teams. Ensure that practice meets the requirements of the 0-19 Childrens Public Health Clinical Governance Framework Ensure that practice meets requirements of nationally recognised UNICEF Baby Friendly Standards. Demonstrates high degree of professionalism personally.

Adheres to risk management processes and management control measures. Active contribution is made towards promoting the highest standards of health & safety. Demonstrates effective communication skills with families, children and relevant professionals. Ability to use IT systems i.e.
