**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Receptionist

£12.00 per hour

Reception Lead

**Accountable to**:
Operations Manager / Business Manager

**1.** **JobSummary**

The post holder/s will ideally work between Mondayto Friday and may on occasion be required to work on a Saturday with noticewhen the Surgery offers extended hours service.

The post holder/s will exhibit a high level ofconfidentiality, sensitivity and awareness and use skills of tact and diplomacyand to ensure that the high profile nature of the work of the GP is maintainedat all times. They will attend courses as deemed necessary for the efficientrunning of the reception area of the practice.

The post holder is required to have a good standardof general education including Math, English and IT skills together with theability to work in an organised and efficient way.

**2.** **KeyResponsibilities**
- Act on own initiative, within broad procedural guidelines and without direct supervision.
- Undertake activities within the reception area such as answering the telephone, booking appointments, processing prescriptions, scanning documents, inputting data and supporting any external services that may be in the building.
- Undertake patient registrations ensuring all the coding is complete and information has been correctly transferred.
- Liaise with Secondary Care, Social Services and other teams as necessary.
- Ensure efficient service delivery to patients.
- Ensure effective time management and workload prioritisation.
- Participate in staff duty rota and arrangements for appropriate substitution during staff absence or holiday.
- Promote good staff relations and motivation.
- Provide effective communication mechanisms with all public and professional users of the practice - either face to face, over the telephone, in writing or by electronic mediums.
- Ensure strict adherence to the practices computer security protocols.
- Participate in internal and external training events as required.
- Use own initiative to effectively organise own work and that of the reception staff within the team.
- Actively partake in supervisions and Appraisals.
- Ensure building security arrangements are implemented.
- Ensure that complaints from patients are brought to the attention of the Reception Supervisor or Operations Manager.

A high level of education (English, Maths, IT)

**Experience**

Working in an office environment
