- Job description- Do you want to lead, manage, and motivate a dispersed team to deliver fantastic outcomes for communities throughout Hertfordshire, London and Kent? There is an exciting new role available as Team Leader within our Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) team, managing a team of MEICA engineers working across two operational Areas.
You will report to the South East MEICA Supra Area Team Leader, you will ensure that the team has the correct resources, skills, and operational capabilities to fulfil our day-to-day maintenance activities, in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner.
This would suit either an experienced leader looking for an opportunity to broaden their experience, or an aspiring leader looking to grow their skills in leading people.
Your strong leadership will maintain a high standard of professional behaviour within the team, ensuring successful delivery of critical work which protects people and property from the impacts of climate change. Your role will help provide effective and professional incident response to potential flood events across our key structures and assets, ranging from multimillion pound structures to small control gates and outfalls.
You will work with Operations Managers across the Supra Area to understand the corporate strategies and priorities to set the teams objectives and develop the work programme with internal teams. You will need to work with external partners, suppliers, and landowners to help deliver elements of the maintenance program.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team- Reporting to the Supra Area Meica Team Leader you will lead a team based of Meica Officers based in HNL and KSLES. Meica Officers are responsible overseeing and ensuring timely delivery of Area focussed Meica related planned preventative and intermittent maintenance on EA assets in HNL and KSLES. Support and guidance will be provided by the Supra Area Meica Team Leader, senior engineers and Meica Advisors. The team works very closely with Asset Performance Teams.
- Experience/skills required- You will have excellent people skills and experience of working with others, be able to demonstrate your leadership skills through the work you have carried out.
You must be able to manage the work of your team, monitoring and reporting progress against deadlines and objectives for the delivery of maintenance work your team are overseeing. Compliance with Health and Safety standards, actions and keeping yourself and team safe is paramount in this role. The ability to work closely with Asset Performance Teams and external engineering contractors is also key.
You will need to be able to motivate and inspire your team, be able to communicate and network to deliver effectively.
Experience / knowledge of maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, professional membership of either the I.Mech E or the IET, understanding of MEICA engineering, engineering related legislation, internal engineering standards and processes, would be advantageous but is not essential.

We expect to hold interviews in our Alchemy office at the end of March.
Our hybrid working model combines home and office working. This role is a Supra Area role managing team members in both HNL and KSLES. You will be required to attend meetings in Alchemy in HNL and Orchard House in KSLES. You will also need to visit assets in both Areas where your team members are working, become familiar with the type of work they deliver.
Membership of the IET or IMech E is an advantage. If you are either an Incorporated or a Chartered MEICA engineer this role attracts a MEICA MFF.
