**Shirdi Sai Baba Temple association of London (SHITAL**) is a registered charity formed on 23rd April 2009. The objective of SHITAL is to promote spiritual knowledge for the benefit of the public in accordance with the teachings of Shree Shirdi Sai Baba. SHITAL aims to become a platform to spread the holly messages and teachings of Shree Shirdi Sai Baba to every corner of the UK and Europe through establishing temples, and community centres, holding prayer meetings, lectures, public celebrations of religious festivals, distributing literatures on Shree Shirdi Sai Baba and assisting those in charitable needs.

We currently have temples at London, Leicester and Reading in addition to the weekly centres at four major locations within London.

In line with our Vision to establish more temples, and to have a wider community reach with active engagement, we are recruiting for the **“TEMPLE PRIEST**” role to be based at London.

**Role Objective**:

- To contribute to the organisation growth through quality service to ensure the spiritual needs of the devotees are fulfilled.
- To ensure that all religious activities are carried out at the scheduled time and sanctified manner.

**Overall responsible for all Pooja activity at the temple and Centres.**
- To perform Baba’s pooja every day in accordance with the guidelines set up in the “Priest Handbook”.
- Should be well versed with Sanskrit language, shlokas and other bhajans/ mantras to enable perform pooja with vedic chants and procedures as followed at Shirdi.
- Prepare all items for pooja in readiness for all religious events according to the Hindu calendar and as directed by the temple management.
- Always maintain a spiritual / religious environment within the temple by way of appropriate behaviour.
- Should keep a close track of all special occasions /celebrations related to Baba as followed at Shirdi.
- Perform special pooja on all such occasions as appropriate.
- Should be able to communicate with the devotees and provide them with a peaceful environment inside the temple.
- Guide devotees appropriately on all spiritual matters and information related to Baba.
- To train and develop other priests and staff members on Baba’s Aartis and pooja, including other locations and centres.
- Adhere to temple rules, processes, procedures and policies.
- Centre Management:

- Plan and manage activities to be carried out at the centres.
- Train and guide centre staff on reciting bhajans and Baba’a Aarti.
- Special event Celebrations:

- Follow and plan for all special events as directed by the temple management.
- Lead and take active part in weekend special poojas / activities.
- Administration
- To ensure temple opening times and Aaarti times are maintained strictly on schedules.
- Report any issues and complaints from devotees or others to the Trustees immediately.

**The Individual**:

- Applicant must be a citizen of UK or must posses appropriate work permit / visa to work full time.
- Applicant must have a Brahmin lineage of priesthood due to spiritual requirement.
- Qualified “Acharya” (M.A. in Sanskrit) from “Pathshala”, or equivalent recognised training in the Hindu vedas.
- Be of exemplary character befitting the position of Priest in a Hindu temple.
- Should be pure vegetarian and abstain from alcohol.
- Should be able to work in flexible shift patterns including weekends.

**Salary**: £22,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
