**Job Title**:Manual Machinist

**Location**:Ramsgate, Kent

**Salary**:up to £30,000

**Hours**:
Earlies 0600-1400 (Monday to Friday)

Days 0800-1630 (Monday to Friday)

Lates 1415-0030 (Monday to Wednesday) and 1415-2330 (Thursday)

**Key responsibilities within your new role would be to**:

- Efficiently and efficiently deliver the day-to-day operation of the machine shop, undertaking tasks as directed by the Cell Leader.
- Ensure production schedules are met, adhering to customer requirements.
- Support the control of Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality, maintaining compliance with all industry regulations.
- Provide support for the machine shop ensuring NCRs, audit findings, non-conformance's are fully investigated and completed in a timely manner.
- Undertake a breadth of tasks including precision grinding, honing, boring, milling, turning, CNC turning, bush/bearing fitting and working on a variety of components.
- Monitor stock levels for bonded metals and consumables.
- Assist with certain elements of machine maintenance (preventative and scheduled)
- Support with training and development of other members of staff.
- Support with the implementation of initiatives to improve manpower utilisation and process improvement.
- Ensure quality requirements are met.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support with improving safety by addressing and raising concerns for both physical issues and attitude.
- Support with maintenance of the plant and equipment.
- Encourage progression planning for your department, ensuring accurate population and maintenance of the skills matrix.
- Ensure training is recorded and passed to the quality department.
- Deliver results to meet the strategic objectives of the business.
- Ensure SOPs, Risk Assessments and Local Instructions are kept up to date and delivered to the team accordingly.
- Working with hazardous chemicals.
- Working with lathes, precision grinders and mills etc.
- Working with high temperature treatments.
- Working with dry grit, cast steel shots, glass beads and plastic media with the potential for dust exposure.
- Potential exposure to noise and coolant mist.

**Experience and skills required for this position**:

- You must have manual experience i.e. manual lathe, milling, turning or tool maker
- Physical fitness.
- High attention to detail.
- The ability to work on the same project for a full day.
- Experience within an engineering position.
- Experience of working with hand tools.
- Computer literate.
- An understanding of Environmental, Health & Safety and Risk Assessments.
- Ideally experience with cylindrical, surface, internal and planetary grinding.
- Ideally experience with grinding chrome.
- Ideally experience of CNC turning and programming.
- Ideally experience within aerospace and defence.
