**Salary: £68,000-£75,000 depending on expereince**
**Role Purpose**:
We seeking a Financial Controller (FC) to work in its International business unit, to take full accountability of the financial statements of the business and to support business delivery and growth. The International business is c£160m revenue, across severalglobal businesses including Canada, Germany, UK and Australia. The business is one of the fastest growing areas through both organic growth and acquisition.
The role will require exercising tight financial control across all elements of the business, ensuring the accuracy, relevance and timeliness of financial information utilised for reporting and decision-making purposes. The FC will be a key focal point forfinancial intelligence and leadership across the business.
The role will require working with a broad range of stakeholders (Subsidiary business MDs and their teams, International leadership team, group functional teams, project managers etc), managing various priorities and being a visible and proactive financialleader in the business. We is seeking a high energy individual with ambition to develop and further progress their career.
The International finance role is varied, challenging and requires flexibility. You will be dealing with subsidiary companies around the world, several Joint Ventures, a variety of technical accounting issues, and functional teams who work to different localaccounting rules and are of differing levels of maturity. The role has a strong element of mentoring, coaching, and support, to ensure we work as one team, and provide financial excellence to the Group.
**Key Accountabilities**

- Full ownership of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet and cashflow) including timely delivery of accurate monthly accounts in line with financial standards and Group policy.
- Act as the accounting lead in the International business, liaising with the Technical Accountant in Group Finance, to ensure appropriate treatment of all accounting judgements and accounting matters in the business.
- Leading on delivery of the International annual Budgets, quarterly Forecasts and monthly Latest Best Estimates (LBE) as well as playing a key role in compiling the five year Integrated Strategic Business Plan. Ensuring all plans are achievable but havean appropriate level of challenge.
- Acting as a key Business Partner for all the businesses that sit within International, providing robust financial guidance and direction to help drive and deliver the required business outcomes.
- Full engagement in the delivery of key programmes ensuring opportunities and risks are quantified and a balanced view for provisions/risk management is taken in the accounts for each reporting period.
- Provide financial leadership on bids, as required, with the objective of increasing the probability of win on all bids.
- Provide leadership to the development of the financial strategy of the business, supporting the development of the right financial structures and business models
- Lead financial (process/system) controls of the business.
- Line Management responsibility for Deputy Financial Controller as well as a strong working relationship with the Management Accountants supporting the International business. Ensuring the team prioritise as appropriate and remain motivated and engaged.

**Key capabilities/knowledge**:

- P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow experience is essential
- Ability to financially manage a broad and diverse portfolio of businesses which include subsidiaries and recently acquired smaller businesses - offering financial advice, guidance and direction
- Stakeholder management skills are key to this role including the ability to influence, persuade and engage (ranging from the FD and other members of the International Leadership Team, Subsidiary business teams, and members of Group Finance)
- Strong ability to confidently challenge in areas such as ways of working, programme delivery, bids and investments

**Experience & Qualifications**
- Qualified accountant ACA, ACCA or CIMA with experience of working in finance with a proven track record of delivering on time.
- Experience of stakeholder management and the ability to form and maintain good relationships and communicate with senior management
- Good Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience in communicating confidently and being able to translate financial information into simple and straight-forward messages
- Demonstrate experience in influencing others in decision making
- Key qualities: ambitious, high energy and keen to learn and develop
- Line management experience would be beneficial
- Experience of working in an International environment would be beneficial
- Must be a UK national and will require security clearance.
