Little Havens supports babies, children, young people and their families who are living with life limiting and or incurable conditions. Services are delivered both within the building and the community.

To lead and coordinate a multi-professional team of staff in order to manage and develop the Havens Hospices Children and Young People’s services, in both the community and In-Patient setting. To support the Director of Clinical Services to maintain the highest standards of care, meeting the regulatory standards for safe, effective, response, caring and well-led care. To be responsible for ensuring the services to life limited and life threatened children and young people and their families, are outcome focussed and in line with the organisations mission, vision and values.

**Principal Responsibilities**:
1. To take on the role of Registered Manager for children and young people’s services
2. To act at all times in manner congruent and exemplary to NMC Code of Conduct, upholding the professionalism within the unit.
3. To be responsible for the delivery of safe, effective and responsive holistic care to children, young people and their families.
4. To be responsible for safe staffing within the unit(s).
5. To be responsible for the training and competence of all nursing and care staff within the unit(s), enabling them to adequately fulfil their duties, maintaining contemporaneous records to account for this.
6. To lead and develop the staff within the Care Team, encouraging effective communication, setting objectives and helping to foster a positive team spirit through team meetings and one to one support of direct reports.
7. Conduct appraisals and performance reviews.
8. To be responsible for the day-to-day health, safety and welfare of staff, including yourself, visitors and children/young people.
9. To manage difficult or complex situations effectively and efficiently, seeking support from Senior Managers and the People Team when and if required.
10. To provide advice to families and act as a resource to other professionals within and external to the organisation.
11. To review the referral process in accordance with changing trends in skill sets and talents and maximising people’s potential performance at work.
12. To review the referral process in accordance with changing trends in paediatric palliative care.
13. To create a welcoming, caring, safe and supportive environment for children and their families and all involved in the work of the hospice.
14. To implement effective mechanisms for evaluating and monitoring team caseloads including dependency of children and families.
15. To implement effective mechanisms for evaluating and monitoring shift and team leader responsibilities, and benchmarks of effective and safe patient care.
16. To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care provision. To exercise line management responsibilities for designated staff and support other staff with the delegation of line-management responsibilities.
17. To work with the Director of Clinical Services in monitoring and evaluating outcomes of quality standards within the unit, including patient safety, quality of care, harm free care and therapeutic outcomes. To work in collaboration with the People Development team in identifying and meeting the training and development needs of staff and keeping up to date with current practice and trends in paediatric palliative care.
18. To work collaboratively with all areas of the organisation including fundraising and marketing, communications, finance and executive teams.
19. To manage all resources in accordance with budget.
20. To participate in the on-call rota for Havens Hospices. Patient Care
21. To set standards and lead the delivery of the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care, to the children, young people and families within the hospice.
22. To undertake caseload oversight for the whole team, acting as specialist advisor on complex cases or family situations.
23. To ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are always followed.
