This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, qualitative scientist to join a dynamic, multi-professional research group as Parent, Public and Patient Involvement, Engagement and Participation (PPIEP) lead for the “Pregnancy and Prematurity” Theme of the National Institute for Health Research Imperial Biomedical Research Centre.

You will be based within the Neonatal Medicine Research Group at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital campus of Imperial College London, led by Professor Neena Modi, Professor of Neonatal Medicine. You will also support the “Pregnancy” theme led by Professor Phil Bennett, Professor of Obstetrics.

**Duties and responsibilities**:
You will lead, design and undertake qualitative/social science research of the highest quality in the broad area of PPIEP, and collaborate and support the research projects and programmes of the group in the area of newborn and pregnancy care. You will support and further develop our diverse PPIEP groups, liaising closely with them, and leading their activities. You will ensure parents and patients are involved in every aspect of our research projects and programmes.

We are particularly interested in engaging with young adults who were born preterm or had neonatal conditions. We have a strong record of parent and patient engagement and involvement which we want to extend and expand, especially in the rapidly evolving field of real-world health data research. You will submit publications to refereed journals and assist in attracting external research funding.

**Essential requirements**:

- You will be an experienced social scientist and qualitative researcher with a desire to make a difference in this important and fast growing field.
- You will have a PhD in a social science, qualitative research or relevant related field.
- You will have previous experience of developing and running a PPIEP programme, qualitative research design and analysis, and a demonstrable record of accomplishment and high-quality publications.

Prior experience in neonatal, paediatric or maternal healthcare would be invaluable.

This post is full time and fixed term until 31 August 2025 with the possibility of extension.
