Conservation Officer

We are looking to appoint a full time experienced historic built environment professional on a permanent basis. You will work within a team comprising conservation / planning officers, as well as other specialists.

The international significance and importance of Bath is recognised by its two World Heritage Site inscriptions. Beyond Bath the Council’s area has a rich and diverse historic environment, including locally distinct vernacular architecture, uniquely important archaeology and industrial and coal mining heritage. There are over 6,000 listed buildings (3% Grade I, 10% Grade II*, 87% Grade II), 35 conservation areas, 16 registered historic parks and gardens as well as many undesignated local heritage assets.

We support flexible working with the opportunity to move between the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham which will be your main office base, and other Council locations in Bath and Midsomer Norton as well as some homeworking.

Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.
