**This an exciting opportunity to work as part of the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) Engagement Team who deliver a wide range of activities for educational and other groups. This post will support the booking process for groups and work with the team on the development and delivery of site tours, activities and programmes. The role will be based at CAT’s Mid Wales site.**

The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) is an internationally renowned environmental charity, a world-leading eco centre, and one of the foremost providers of postgraduate environmental education in the UK, based near Machynlleth in Mid Wales.

CAT provides inspiration, education and training in solutions to the climate and biodiversity emergency.

Key activities include a visitor centre where booked groups can see and experience solutions in action, residential short courses, vocational training and postgraduate degrees in a wide range of sustainability-related topics, with online courses and events offered alongside in-person learning.

Our Zero Carbon Britain team publishes research and works directly with councils, communities and other organisations to help transform complex economic, social and political systems.

- Hours: 20 -30 hrs per week variable.
- Contract type: Fixed term - 12 months
- Responsible to: Head of Learning & Education
- Responsible for: No line management responsibilities
- Location: Flexible: home-working with regular visits to the CAT eco centre near Machynlleth
- Working Days: 4-5 days variable.
- Interview to be held: Week commencing 22 July 2024 (on site)
- Expected start date: As soon as possible

**Salary and employee benefits**:
£24,886 p.a. pro rata

**Overview of Role**:
This post is based within the Engagement Department which delivers a wide range of site activities for educational and general groups making best use of the CAT site. Working with the Head of Eco Centre and the Head of Learning & Education, the primary aim of the role is to support the booking process for groups and to work with the team on the development and delivery of site tours, activities and programmes.

The expectation is that this would normally be a site-based role with some home working by agreement.

**Main Responsibilities**:
**Group Engagement**:

- Work with the Education Manager and Learning & Education Manager to develop and deliver a suite of bookable themed tours and hands-on workshops, in line with CAT’s core mission and relevant to the curriculum and leaning goal of the following key audiences:

- Universities
- Schools
- Bespoke groups
- Liaise with Graduate School staff to provide ranger team support for practical site based learning activities.
- Work with the Head of Eco-Centre, and the Head of Education and Learning on the development and delivery of short courses utilizing in-house staff.
- Support the programming and development of external events when required.

**Engagement Delivery**:

- Share in the task of meeting, greeting and supporting visiting groups.
- Assist in the delivery of site engagement activities including site tours and workshops.
- Support the group booking process including the organisation of programmes and logistics.
- Share in the provision of site contact support for visiting groups.

**General duties**:

- Comply with the CAT data protection, safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
- Use or work towards using, written and spoken Welsh when liaising with customers.
- Comply with the CAT’s Health & Safety Policy and assist in the production and implementation of relevant risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Carry out other duties commensurate with the post.
