**Main purpose of the position**:
To attend to the needs of service users including personal care, social care and domestic tasks. To create a supportive home environment to enable to the service user to attain maximum independence. To perform all essential household tasks to ensure that a person is properly cared for. To provide general support to a service user as part of a flexible, caring team.
**Summary of responsibilities and duties**:
**Personal Care**:
To carry out all personal care tasks - excluding those defined as nursing duties - to assist and support a person to live independently in the community as per their individual assessed need.
- Assisting in and out of bed, dressing/undressing
- Assisting with personal washing/bathing/showering/hair care
- Assisting to use toilet/commode
- Emptying commodes and catheter bags. Changing catheter bags as necessary; disposing of incontinence pads
- Cleaning and changing after soiling and wetting
- Assisting with eating - where necessary
- To undertake any other health related tasks which are listed in the care plan and are not classified as nursing tasks.
- To encourage and assist the service user to use any aids provided - as per the instructions of the relevant professional
- To report any changes in circumstance to the office immediately
**Social Care Duties**:
- To establish a relationship with a service user, giving support and providing a link with the community
- Making telephone calls to doctors, emergency services or to make appointments and, where necessary, accompany the service user to the hospital/doctor
- Readingand writing letter and completing forms
- Motivating and assisting the service user to regain lost skills and promote their independence
- Deal with callers to a service users home
**Domestic Duties**:
- Cleaning and tidying the service user’s home
- Making and changing beds
- Preparing drinks and cooking meals
- Laundering and ironing clothes
- Preparing soiled laundry for collection by laundry service when required
- Shopping, pension collection, bill payment (duties involving handling money should be cleared with the office first and carefully recorded)
**Other Duties**:
- All duties must be carried out to comply with:
a) Health and Safety at Work Act
b) Nationally agreed code of practices, where relevant
c) Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments & Regulations and other legal requirements
- To complete all necessary paperwork
- To carry out any other reasonable duties
Pay per hour £10.30 - £10.50
Bank Holiday rate £20.30 - £21.00
Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom

Shift patterns are flexible
Must be able to support on alternate weekends and some evenings during the week
