**Function**

The function of the Sales Specialist is to enhance sales growth for the Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FT-IR) and Raman product lines by playing an effective part in the UK sales team in continually generating substantial new business.

**Objectives**

The primary objectives are:

- To develop a defined sales territory so that it generates new business on a continually increasing basis
- To seek out, qualify, follow up and progress sales leads to successful conclusion

**Responsibilities**:
**Duties**

Job duties will include the following tasks specific to the objectives:
**Objective 1**
- Work with the Sales Manager to develop a business plan with clear objectives and initiatives for the territory
- Assist with the organisation of and attendance at product road shows, scientific meetings, conferences and exhibitions

**Objective 2**
- Seek out potential purchasers in all areas of industry and academia in a defined territory
- Professionally present convincing commercial and technical sales arguments with integrity in highly competitive situations
- Tenaciously follow up sales opportunities with a determined commitment to achieve success
- Take responsibility for the complete project sales cycle from initiation through to completion
- Organise eye-opening instrument demonstrations
- Maintain the Company’s customer relationship management database for the territory to an acceptable standard
- Visit factory sites for product training, seminars, and customer demonstrations

**Reporting**

The position reports to the Country Manager Bruker Optics, who will agree expectations, offer guidance in individual cases and provide framework support. Close co-operation and teamwork is required with colleagues in Coventry and at Bruker sites in Europe. Accurate record keeping and timely submission of documentation is pre-requisite. Regular reporting in writing and by personal attendance at our Coventry office form part of the job duties.

The position is based at a location that is conveniently suited to the sales territory and that is satisfactory to the Company for the efficient and effective development of the territory.

To carry out the duties to the level expected, the minimum competencies are:

Qualifications:
**Qualifications**
- Good knowledge of spectroscopy
- Clear understanding of the UK academic and industrial markets, together with a proven track record of working with technology-based products in those markets
- Good market intelligence with respect to competitive products and vendors
- High standard of spoken and written English
- Current valid driving licence with a maximum of six penalty points
- No visa disqualification from the USA or EU

**Skills and Experience**
- Proven track record in interaction with customers involving scientific instrument products in industry and academia
- Commercial acumen and the ability to promote a technical solution as a value for money exercise
- Direct customer-facing experience
- Computer literacy, especially with regard to modern scientific user interfaces, document and presentation preparation and report writing
- Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken

Irregular hours and extensive travel are an essential part of the job.
