**About the Role**:
The Manor Street Surgery is seeking 2 Receptionists to join their team on a part time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, expanding and diverse GP Practice serving around 12000 patients in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.
- Various shifts between 8.00am and 6.30pm Monday - Friday.
- Shift pattern of 7.00am Mondays and Friday and 6.30 - 8.00pm Mondays if possible
- Overtime opportunities available
There is more to our receptionist roles than answering the phone and making appointments. In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.
Full training provided
Duties include:
- Reception and routing of patients on arrival.
- Dealing with requests for appointments by telephone and in person.
- Dealing with enquiries by telephone and in person.
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
- Clearing and re-stocking of consulting rooms as required
- Recording requests for visits and telephone calls.
- Accepting messages for doctors, nurses, managers and other attached clinicians, and effectively communicating them as appropriate.
- Filing of medical records as required.
- Tidying the reception area and the waiting area at the end of each session.
- Ensuring that all notice boards and administrative files are kept tidy and up to date.
- Chaperoning when necessary. (Training is provided)
- Leaving the reception area tidy and ready for colleagues taking over the next session. Passing on relevant information and unresolved problems.
- Administrative duties such as scanning, filing, patient registrations and deductions.
- Dealing with routine enquiries from patients
- Deal with Practice tasks and other administrative tasks as required by clinical staff.
- Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable;
- Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner;
- Able to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times;
- Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations;
- Confident to work as part of a team and be able to think on your feet, independently;
- Strong IT and administration skills.
Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
