**Job summary**:
ARE YOU AN ENTHUSIASTIC THERAPY SUPPORT WORKER ?

IF YES, come and join our Therapy team at Good Hope Hospital Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands; part of University Hospitals Birmingham. You will either be an existing Band 4 Therapy Support Worker or an experienced Band 3 Therapy Support Worker wanting to progress your skills.

You will be well supported in the role by a skilled multi-disciplinary team that consists of Occupational therapists, Physiotherapist and fellow Therapy Support Workers.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The post will combine competencies from predominately physiotherapy and occupational therapy disciplines, including working as part of a MDT to achieve a timely discharge by using a combination of specialist assessment skills to identify the needs of patients.

The role also supports the smooth running of the Peripheral Equipment stores on site to include delivering and fitting of equipment.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:
Education to GCSE level or equivalent including English and maths at grade C or above

Able to demonstrate competence in maths and written and spoken English

Educated to A Level / NVQ 4/ BTEC or equivalent (e.g. NVQ 3 or similar vocational qualification PLUS extensive experience working in a care setting)

Care certificate or be willing to work towards this

**Desirable**:
Evidence of recent education/personal development related to Healthcare.

Demonstrated has been proactive with continuing professional development

**Experience**:
**Essential**:
Comprehensive experience supporting therapists in a relevant clinical setting

Comprehensive experience of delivering acute inpatient rehabilitation programmes across a variety of clinical settings with evidence of MDT collaboration and hospital discharge

planning

Experience of training patients and carers in the safe use of equipment

Can demonstrate an in depth understanding of relevant areas of therapy, the effect of illness/clinical conditions / disability on function and health and basic aims of rehabilitation

Comprehensive understanding of the role of therapy support worker in the relevant area

Understanding of confidentiality and data protection in healthcare

**Desirable**:
Experience of communicating with and motivating patients who may have communication difficulties

Good understanding of working on Acute hospital wards

Experience of working in an Acute Health Setting

Good understanding of working environment -healthcare/NHS/UHB trust/acute care/community as applicable
