**About the Role**:
You will be a member of a responsible team in charge of the day-to-day care of young people with Emotional and/or Behavioural difficulties within a Children’s home.
**We are particularly keen to hear from you if you have worked in any of these sectors: - Early Years, Youth and Community Work, Education, Children's Nursing, Child Protection, Family Support Worker, Youth Justice, Outreach Worker (This is not an exhaustive list).**
**Snapshot**:Children and Young People in residential care can have complex needs, including emotional behavioural difficulties. Many young people in our care have experienced trauma either as a result of neglect and abuse or due to a traumatic event in their life.
They have a fantastic supportive team of dedicated and compassionate support workers who take care of their emotional, physical, practical, social, intellectual and cultural needs.
**Support Workers are professionals** who are also role models and advocates. **Day to day responsibilities** will vary BUT your focus is always the same - **To help build confidence, self-esteem**, **resilience and to help improve the lives of** **young** **people**.
**Skills required**:
- Building rapport with young people
- Listening, patience and empathy
**Qualifications**:You do not need to be qualified. However, you should **be willing to complete the relevant qualifications.**
**A little bit about us**:We provide a home for children and young people who have particular needs that make it impractical for them to live at home, or who expressly prefer not to be placed with foster carers. We also cater to young people who display challenging and complex behaviour and would best benefit from a secure, stable environment within a small home setting.
**Therapeutic Focus**:We believe that all children and young people should be supported through therapeutic practices in every way possible. Our staff teams are provided with intensive therapeutic training.
**We use an array of therapeutic approaches** to support healing and wellbeing and to help young people understand their experiences and to find alternative ways of expressing hurt, sadness, anger and frustration.
As support worker **you will use a therapeutic perspective in your day to day role.** This will include, understanding how young people's experiences affect them, taking into consideration emotional needs.
**Some of your responsibilities include**:
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children/young people
- Actively promoting structure, boundaries and routines within a safe and nurturing environment
- Working in partnership with schools, colleges, OFSTED, Social Workers and other agencies and professionals to ensure the needs of the young people are met
- Engaging in a variety of activities with the young people
- Being a strong and positive role model for the young people
- Working in line with the young people's care plans
- Undertaking regular training as part of my professional development
- Completing admin tasks
- School-runs, attending plays and school events
- Maintaining the home
**For this role** we are considering applicants with no previous experience, as we will provide full training. However, if you have worked with children and young people and/or you hold any childcare related qualifications this would be and advantage. **We are also looking for some unique qualities** and of course you should naturally want to make a positive impact in your role.

- Minimum age 21
- Able and willing to work a 3-week rolling shift pattern
- Able and willing to sleep in on shift when the rota requires
- Must be willing to work towards your nationally recognised qualification
