**Section Secretary - The Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain**

A unique and exciting position has arisen for a Section Secretary of The Showmen's Guild of Great Britain, based at the Guild’s Western Section office in Yate, Bristol.

The Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain is the leading Trade Association for the Travelling Fairground Industry, representing circa 3000 members and their families UK-wide.

It operates from its Central Office in Staines upon Thames with 10 regional Section offices across the UK.

Its members operate funfairs throughout the year from historical Charter Fairs; to Holiday Fairs and at most public outdoor events such as Festivals; Melas; Winter Wonderlands and Carnivals.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Act as the chief administrative officer for the Section.
- Be computer literate in all Microsoft packages.
- Be able to handle enquiries to include screening of all telephone calls.
- Taking and distributing minutes.
- Maintaining an efficient and well organised filing system for easy storage and retrieval.
- Liaise with the Guild’s Committee’s Section Secretaries and General Secretary.
- Arrange and attend all meetings to include, Committee, annual general meetings (AGMs), Central Council events and Committee meetings, (producing agendas, taking minutes, proofreading, organising and maintain office systems, and ensure compliance with decisions).
- Manage all banking, insurance, subscriptions, and contractual matters.
- Manage all pension and payroll issues.
- Act as data controller and GDPR officer.

**Person specification**:

- Be able to work on their own initiative and under pressure, as well as collaborate with the senior management team in joint projects.
- Have experience at a senior Secretary level, preferably within a general management, company secretarial.
- Must be a robust, articulate individual comfortable addressing large groups.
- Should be used to working under pressure and be able to balance competing interests.
- Should be a good networker who can build relationships with the membership.
- Excellent organisational, prioritise their workload accordingly and financial skills are essential.

**Salary**

Starting salary is £30k p/a, with the potential of rising to £36k after a probationary period of 3 months. This is also a performance related increase. (Committee’s discretion).
