An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Activity Co-ordinator to join our team on ward 8 at Fairfield.
We are seeking someone who has social and creative skills, to work alongside the ward and therapy team to engage patients and support them on their recovery journey.
The aim of the role is to provide interventions, using recovery principles, in order to improve the service users journey, contributing positively to the emotional and psychological wellbeing of patients.
Main duties of the job
- Work with members of the multi-disciplinary team and ward volunteers to prepare and implement social, leisure and recreational activities for patients.
- Arrange individual activities for patients as appropriate.
- Provide 1:1 social contact with patients according to the individual ability of the patient to participate.
- Ensure there are a range of activities for patients, e.g. board games electronic games, music therapy, creative crafts and reading/observational materials.
- Organise social events on the ward to include patients, relatives, staff and visitors.
- Organise and arrange group activities for patients to promote social interaction.
- Liaise with other outside agencies to provide support and advice on social activities.

- Level 2 Health and Social Care accreditation / Care Certificate
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Genuinely committed to service development
- Genuinely passionate about providing the best experience for the patient group
- Experience in managing patients with cognitive impairment
- Experience working in an acute or rehabilitation healthcare setting
- Previous experience of activity co-ordinating in a health and/or social care background
Desirable criteria
- Experience in facilitating groups and individual activities
- Experience of working in a multi/cultural environment
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and patients
- Creative, organised, and adaptable
- Good IT skills
- Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills
