Bradford, United Kingdom Refugee Action Full time

**Hours-Full time-35 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks). This may drop to part-time hours after 1 year dependent on the funding**

**About Refugee Action**
We are a national charity with more than 40 years’ experience of empowering people who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes to secure the protection and support that they need to live with dignity and respect and build a new life in the UK. We do this by providing expert advice and casework, building the capacity of partner organisations and campaigning on the policies that affect them.

Our vision for a welcoming UK has never been more important. It’s a crucial time to be part of Refugee Action as we come to the end of our current strategy (2019-23) and embark on our next strategic period. We will do this through securing systemic change through our campaigns to change government policies, our direct services, and our work to strengthen and connect other service delivery organisations. You can read more about what we do here.

We will also continue with our commitment in our strategy to do far more to learn from and shift power to refugees and people seeking asylum. We are also striving to be an actively anti-racist organisation. Both of these commitments are a top priority at Refugee Action.

**To succeed in the role, you will need to demonstrate**:

- Experience of conducting immigration casework and the use of interpreters.
- Experience of performing high quality immigration casework including experience of successfully advocating on behalf of clients, providing immigration advice and making appropriate referrals.
- Commitment to Shifting Power and anti-racist practices.
- Understanding of how the UK’s hostile and racialised border regime impacts on those affected by it.
- Ability to be administratively self-sufficient, including the ability to accurately record data for monitoring and case recording purposes.
- Excellent written communication skills and experience of presenting clear and accurate written documents to present evidence and advocate.
- Ability to analyse complex written information and communicate it effectively.
- Ability to plan and manage a heavy workload with challenging timeframes and competing deadlines.
- Flexible and innovative “can-do” approach to work;
- Previous experience or working with, tasking and supervising volunteers with knowledge and understanding of recognised ‘good practice’ in relation to volunteering within organisations.

**Those with lived experience as a refugee are particularly encouraged to apply.**

**Closing date: 23:59 on Monday 27 March 2023**
**Interviews: Tuesday 18 April 2023**

**Refugee Action only operates in the UK, so all roles are UK-based, and you must have the right to work in the UK.**
- This role is not on the Shortage Occupation List. If you have permission to work that is restricted to the Shortage Occupation List, we will be unable to appoint you to this role.
- You can find out which roles are on the shortage occupation list via these two links:
- Skilled Worker visa: shortage occupations
- Skilled Worker visa: shortage occupations for healthcare and education

We are currently campaigning for people seeking asylum to have the right to work in the UK, see our Lift the Ban campaign here.
