We are currently looking for a **Laboratory Supervisor** to join our friendly team at Aberthaw Cement Plant in Barry.

**Role Responsibility**:
In the role of **Laboratory Supervisor**, you will be responsible for:

- Accurate analysis within the statutory legislation and the internal company Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental Standards and performance to achieve the plant and departmental KPI’s and objectives for safety, housekeeping, environment, quality, production and costs.
- Regular testing and analysis of samples including final product (mill and dispatch cements), kiln feed, and water etc. using physical and chemical testing and instrumental (e.g. XRF/XRD) techniques.
- Undertake routine calibration of laboratory equipment and be able to understand and communicate the results & take responsibility to ensure all testing meets the required internal and external standards.
- Plant operations are 365 days, 24/7 and the role requires flexibility to ensure effective running of the plant. This may involve night working, weekend and Bank holidays and being on call if necessary.
- Degree in Chemistry required or equivalent experience gained working in a Laboratory Environment
- IOSH and/or Supervisor/Leadership Certification (desirable)
- Experience in a technical / quality management role with experience of laboratory testing procedures.
- An in-depth knowledge of cement industry processes from raw mix design, clinker production (burning) to finished products grinding
- An in-depth knowledge of physico-chemical characteristics of raw materials, in process and finished
- Fully conversant with laboratory sample and recording systems in a cement / concrete or related-product laboratory.
- Knowledge of Chemical Analysis, sampling and testing
- TQTS and ISO 9001
- Employee relations, coaching, mentoring and the development of others
- Out of hours call outs
