We are looking for calm, creative, flexible and efficient Health Care Assistants who can understand the needs of patients and visitors, whose priority is to deliver high quality patient care. As a team member, you will work collectively with colleagues to achieve the Trust’s core values. You should be able to communicate clearly and be keen to learn within the scope of this role.
The role involves shift work including full days, nights and weekends so ability to work these shifts is essential.
**Day Shift**: 07:30am - 20:00pm Night Shift: 19:30pm - 08:00am
Chartwell Inpatient Unit and Chartwell Outpatient’s Unit are looking for Band 2 health care support workers to join our friendly team. Job Summary
As a Health Care Assistant you will be supporting the clinical staff in the provision of safe effective care to meet the needs of patients and their families. As part of your role you will be assisting with maintaining high standards of quality care, patient safety and cleanliness of the wards. You will ensure adequate stock levels are maintained and equipment is stored safely.
To assist under supervision in the delivery of nursing care in liaison with the multidisciplinary team.
To assist with clinical duties to ensure the effective running of the ward/department.
To maintain own personal development with support from ward/departmental manager.

Patients, carers, nurses, other members of the multi-disciplinary team, local adult social care services and relevant voluntary organisations.
Main
**Responsibilities**:
Clinical Practice
- To assist patients with activities of daily living whilst encouraging independence, as appropriate
- To monitor and record patient’s clinical observations, as requested by a Registered Nurse
- To assist with patient nutritional needs - eating, drinking, menu selection, meal delivery and special diets according to the individual patient’s needs
- To assist in the maintenance of up to date, comprehensive and accurate records in accordance with current legal requirements
- To assist in the admission and discharge of patients including any necessary risk assessments
- To escort patients and families to other departments within the hospital as required
- After appropriate training, to assist in the collection of specimens including blood samples
- To participate in maintaining standards of hygiene, cleanliness and infection control, reporting problems as appropriate
- To ensure that equipment is clean at all times, stored safely when not in use and report faults as appropriate
- To assist in setting up and preparing patient areas appropriately to the clinical area
- To ensure that stock levels of linen, sterile supplies and stationery are maintained at all times in conjunction with the senior sister/ward receptionist.
- To assist in the maintenance and safekeeping of patients property in line with Trust policy
- To assist ward staff with general collection/delivery of items necessary to ensure effective operational management of ward/department
