To contribute to specialist assessments of clients identified within the Wiltshire In-Reach team (identifying and prioritising interactional patterns/ dynamics/ context). Employing research-based models to formulate and implement plans with individuals, couples, families and carers in the context of the professional and wider social systems. To provide specialist consultation and advice to professionals working alongside children with complex needs. Providing and receiving highly complex and sensitive information in relation to Safeguarding and Child Protection work and taking appropriate action.

This includes identifying and appropriately reporting concerns to Childrens Social Care while using communication skills to maintain a professional working relationship with parents and significant others in often hostile and highly emotive situations. Using a systemic approach to work with individuals, their families and significant others where indicated. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with carers and significant others. To contribute to evaluating and making decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individuals, family or group.

To use professional training and skills to work with people together who may be in distressed/ angry/ emotional states, being able to hold tensions and at the same time pacing the situation and working towards resolution.
