London, United Kingdom British Heart Foundation Full time

Our Medical and healthcare innovation team is to help turn research and insights into real-world impact for patients and the public.

As our Head of Health Analytics and Data Science you’ll play a pivotal role in this goal and will lead and grow a highly capable team to develop and deliver novel and innovative analytics and data science.

This service will meet the needs of a wide range of internal customers, and include the oversight of a function that will:

- develop new reports and visualisations to meet regular reporting needs for the purposes of effective tracking, monitoring and evaluation, automating production wherever possible.
- spearhead the creation of intelligence work plans related to major projects, campaigns and programmes of work.
- oversee the development of robust quality assurance procedures to support the optimal utilisation of frequently used reports and statistics, including sign off for media.

Working closely with colleagues across British Heart Foundation (BHF), particularly in the Technology team, you’ll oversee the development of health insights tools and analyses, with the team acting as a specialist function for novel approaches to support the work of BHF. You’ll also support in the strategic development of the team, and enable the future direction of the organisation with advances of specialist data analytics and data science.

**Working requirements**

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

At the BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

**About you**

Educated to degree level with, ideally, a post-graduate level qualification in a quantitative field (e.g. medical statistics, computer science, health informatics or similar), or with equivalent experience, you’ll have a strong understanding of the NHS and the UK health data landscape.

You’ll have proven experience as an analytics or informatics programme lead, or similar, role in a large, complex organisation, with associated technical skills in common data science, analytics methodologies and tools. Alongside previous experience of leading complex informatics and intelligence projects and programmes, you’ll also have experience of leading and managing teams, ideally in a ‘customer’ facing context.

With advanced Analytics and Data Science skills to accommodate bespoke analytical solution, allowing you to act as the Professional Champion for the Health Insights Team, you’ll also have the following skills and experience:

- Able to communicate complex data science findings to non-data audiences, with excellent presentation and concise narrative.
- Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills, including with stakeholders at very senior levels.
- Strategic analytical skills, with the ability to frame problems and develop solutions in a logical fashion.
- A ‘can-do’, supportive attitude
- Intellectual flexibility, able to embrace and deal with ambiguity and complexity and be open to creativity in leading and bringing about effective change.
- Strong leadership skills, able to motivate and support a team with a range of professional backgrounds and experience.

**About us**

We value and respect every individual’s unique contribution, celebrate diversity, and make inclusion part of what we do every day.

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy, Igniting Change, along with our internal EDI group, Kaleidoscope, and a growing number of employee network groups (our Affinity Groups), help us create an environment where all our colleagues and volunteers can succeed.

**Interview process**

Interviews will be held via MS Teams and will incorporate a presentation element.
