Part Time / 27.5 Hours Per Week / Permanent

Adult Social Care team works with individual’s own abilities, family and wider community support in a strength-based approach. We work very closely with our Health colleagues, voluntary sector and providers to maintain the health and wellbeing of people in Leicester.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as a Team Support Worker, where you will receive calls from people and professionals, carry out an assessment over the phone of what action is required, provide appropriate information, advice and services to those making contact with the Department and liaise with managers to follow up on calls received.

This is a part time, permanent position working 27.5 hours per week. Typical working hours are 8:30 till 5 between Mon-Thu and finishes on 4:30 Fridays. We will be flexible to agree with you how 27.5 hours to be spread over the service needs. You’ll become part of our vibrant Locality East service and work as a Team Support Worker in the East of the city office at Merlyn Vaz Health and Social Care Centre and help improve dignity, independence and quality of life for people in Leicester.

**What you’ll be doing**

As the first point of contact, not one day will remain the same in this varied role. You’ll offer sound advice and offer effective responses to emergency situations. In addition, you’ll offer support to the team providing an effective duty system for booking and dealing with enquiries.

Within this role, you’ll provide a crucial data cleansing function, as and when necessary, particularly when these are requested by the Management/Leadership. This will include, but not be limited to, tidying up data and ending non-planned service provisions - in line with reports.

This role will also involve you in all duty work that does not require a 72 hour response or is related to an allocated person, this could include liaising with providers about additional care/day-care/respite, information gathering on emergency situations (allocated people), Assistive Technology /Occupational Therapy/Handyperson referrals.

**What you’ll need**

In this role you’ll need to demonstrate a commitment to working in partnership with people and their carers to understand their needs and accurately gather the details of the presenting queries over the phone. As the first point of contact for people, you’ll have great communication and interpersonal skills ensuring you can provide them with a helpful and tactful advice and support. Previous experience of working in a social care environment and knowledge of care packages is essential. Working in fast pace environment you’ll need to have high organisational and team working skills.
