We are looking for an experienced, confident and motivated Assistant Internal Communications Officer to join our Internal Communications Team. A creative and proactive individual with strong written, oral and digital skills, plus excellent organisational and people skills, will be central to our success, along with the rest of the team.

As part of the wider Communications Directorate, you will be a member of a dynamic, diverse and energetic team committed to delivering outstanding and engaging content. You will collaborate closely with colleagues from across the media, social, digital and strategic teams to deliver coherent, joined-up messages.

You will also work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider organisation to co-ordinate and deliver internal communications using analysis, insight and understanding to reach various audiences and help DfE to deliver its objectives.

As a member of the Government Communications Service, you will also work closely with colleagues across government to drive forward improvements in internal communications that will help all of our people understand their role in delivering outstanding public services.

**Job description**:

- Key duties:
- Deliver creative and engaging multi-media content including video, podcast, design, animation and photography - in support of the department’s priorities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience writing in others’ voices, particularly senior leaders of an organisation
- Support the Permanent Secretary on weekly all-staff live broadcasts including briefing and post-broadcast video content, regular creation of video content featuring the Permanent Secretary and photographs of the Ministerial and DfE Leadership Team (both headshots and at events)
- Work across the organisation to source, write and edit content and stories that demonstrates the organisation’s vision and purpose and celebrates and showcases staff achievements
- Provide advice to staff and departmental leads on appropriate channels to reach and target internal audiences
- Co-ordinate and deliver communication plans on a range of wellbeing, diversity and inclusion topics that meet specific departmental objectives, providing expert advice to staff and departmental leads on appropriate channels to reach and target internal audiences
- Lead on the production of the department’s weekly all staff newsletter, sourcing and writing content and ensuring messages are aligned with our vision and values
- Support the Senior Internal Communications Manager to co-ordinate and deliver the department’s annual Staff Awards
- Support a culture where two-way internal communication is seen as fundamental and integral to the success of the organisation, providing creative input and support to the development of new internal communication tools and channels
- Support the Internal Communications team to monitor communication activity by collecting and recording our impact data.
