Visitor Assistant

Britten Pears Arts is a pioneering music, arts and heritage charity based at two beautiful locations on the Suffolk coast: The Red House, Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings.

The Red House was the home of composer Benjamin Britten and his partner, the singer Peter Pears. This historic house is surrounded by five acres of garden and includes purpose-built Archive and exhibition buildings. Open to the public it offers a fascinating view of domestic life in the mid-twentieth century.

**The Red House will re-open on 28th March and we are looking forward to welcoming visitors, families and holiday makers.**

**We are looking for 3x Seasonal Visitor Assistants.**

**Visitor Assistant Responsibilities**:

- Greet visitors.
- Sell tickets.
- Keep the retail area clean and well stocked.
- Assist with general enquiries.
- Provide refreshments to visitors.
- Work very closely with our team of volunteers who are stewards in the house and library.

The Visitor Assistant role is wide-ranging, offering plenty of opportunities to learn about working in a museum and heritage environment and gain new skills and experience.

**Visitor Assistant Requirements**:

- Friendly, flexible and versatile people who enjoy working with others.
- Customer service experience.
- Confident communication and problem solving skills.
- Confident IT and admin skills.
- Enjoy being part of a well rounded visitor experience, including refreshments, information and retail.
- Able to commit to the role until early November and willing to work some additional hours to help with the June Festival and other planned events.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary contract

**Salary**: £12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 14 - 28 per week
