The Department of Theatre at the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) at Lancaster University is seeking to develop its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with the appointment of a new Lecturer. Theatre in LICA is highly ranked, with an outstanding reputation for research and teaching in contemporary drama, dance, theatre and performance. LICA has a thriving interdisciplinary culture with excellent facilities and joint and single-honours undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Architecture, Design, Fine Art, Film and Theatre. The Lancaster region offers excellent opportunities for engagement with professional theatres, community arts organisations, and regional partners including Eden Project Morecambe.

This role involves producing excellent research-led studio and lecture-based teaching and contributing to the delivery of a range of modules at undergraduate and master’s levels, supervising undergraduate, masters and doctoral students, and participating in the administration of teaching, research, and public engagement in LICA.

You will be encouraged to develop your own modules based on your research interests. We welcome applicants with a range of teaching and research specialisms, including but not limited to: environmental performance, environmentalism, sustainability, site-specific performance, ecopedagogy, climate change; or a related area.

You will pursue research leading to outputs at a level appropriate for submission to future Research Excellence Framework exercises. You will be encouraged to develop new research collaborations leading to externally funded research grants, both within LICA and with colleagues from across and outside the University.

LICA and the Department of Theatre promotes a wide range of research methods, including practice-based research, and supports research outputs that include monographs, articles, performances, workshops, installations, films, websites etc.

This is a 1.0 FTE indefinite appointment.
