**Shift**: days, 40 hrs basic

**Start and finishing Times**: 6:00-14:00 - flexibility required.

**Job description**:
Responsible to inspect cast ductile iron and steel castings for turbo/manifold and general engineering sectors to maintain the company’s high-quality standards.

inspect and verify product quality, using visual and dimensional inspection methods.

Refer to visual and written standards to verify product quality.

Ensure work instructions and SOPs are referred to in the inspection process.

Conduct dimensional inspection checks as required.

Support the customer returns process, by evaluating the product quality of defects prior to their acceptance.

Complete inspection reports.

Communicate with staff at all levels.

**Essential requirements**:
Experience and knowledge with production processes associated with the manufacture of ductile iron turbine castings is preferred, but not essential.

As a priority, working safely with tools and equipment with an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.

The role requires an attention to detail, thoroughness, and a degree of analytical thinking or problem solving. Excellent communication skills and ability to work on own initiative. Ability to read and follow inspection references, work instructions and quality documents relevant to customer and internal requirements. Good written skills to record inspection information.

**Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to**

To ensure all castings are inspected according to company procedures and customer requirements.

Conduct visual and dimensional quality checks.

Approving or rejecting both raw and machined castings with respect to quality standards and record performance

Complete gauge checks. Utilise measuring equipment such as gauges or jigs when required.

Identification of cast defects or non-conforming castings

Initiate and follow up of Non-conformance.

Assist with material movement as relates to non-conforming product.

Extraordinary projects as directed by quality management.

Ability to work in a high-paced environment. Work on own initiative

Maintains a clean work environment to eliminate potential product contamination.

Complete required paperwork. Ability to read and write the English language.

Ability to safely lift 25kgs and handle castings.

Follow and adhere to manual handling and lifting guidance.

Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be always worn in proper manner.

Flexible; Ability to work varying shifts and overtime.

Good communication skills and teamwork

Maintaining general housekeeping, cleanliness and tidy working areas

Safe handling of waste and spillages

Maintain equipment in safe working condition.

Checking inspection equipment before use and reporting any concerns

Promote ideas to optimise inspection productivity.

Participate in the development and improvement of inspection practices and procedures.

Participate and feedback concerns with design and development of cast products, materials, testing and process studies

To follow and read work instructions, standards, and care points carefully.

To communicate with team members and supervision to ensure the area is working efficiently.

Pay: £13.00 per hour
