**Purpose of Role**

Responsible for negotiating, agreeing and settling the legal costs associated with a Court case and for completing post-assessment work.

**Key Aspects of the Role**
- Draft Bills of Costs and N260s
- Draft Points of Dispute and/or Replies to claims for costs.
- Assist in the preparation of costs budgets, advise on costs budgets presented by an opposing party and prepare Precedent Rs with negotiation where appropriate.
- Negotiate Bills including attendance at hearings as required.
- Attendance upon Detailed Assessment Hearing as and when necessary.
- Providing technical/costs guidance to fee earners where required.
- Contribute to the delivery of the key performance targets by achieving own objectives effectively e.g., productivity, leakage, budget, fraud and service targets as appropriate to the Team.
- Effectively use the Firm’s case management system to ensure data held is accurate and up to date.
- Follow agreed processes, policies and procedures to ensure quality and service standards are met and leakage is minimized.
- Provide guidance and support to others in the team so that overall team effectiveness is enhanced.

**Skills and Attributes**
- Qualified costs lawyer, Solicitor or CILEX qualifications.
- Experience working in a litigation environment within a Costs
- Team.
- Experience of handling own costs caseload from start to finish.
- Up to date knowledge of costs case law, CPR and legislation.
- Costs negotiation skills and experience.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent networking and communication skills.
