University of the Arts London (UAL) are pleased to once again be exclusively partnering with Robertson Bell to recruit a Head of Academic Finance on a permanent basis. UAL is a world Top 2 university for art and design according to the QS World UniversityRankings® and Europe's largest specialist university for art and design.

Reporting into the Associate Director of Finance (Academic Finance and Business Development), this role will provide strong leadership and management for the college-based finance teams, ensuring the teams deliver an effective financial management and businesspartnering service to the college and operate in accordance with the overall university framework. The post holder will be a positive driver of change and they will develop a culture of continuous improvement within the college finance teams.

Established in 2004, UAL brings together 6 esteemed arts, design, fashion and media Colleges, which were founded in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It welcomes a diverse body of 21,092 students from more than 130 countries and it gives students the uniqueopportunity to be creative and innovative through a wide array of disciplines, across all levels.

The role offers a full-time opportunity with an incredible benefits package, including a defined benefit pension scheme, 34 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) and access to numerous developmental opportunities. The Head of Academic Finance will be basedin Granary Square, as well as regularly meeting up with the Finance teams and stakeholders at the respective Colleges. UAL offers flexible working arrangements, with an expectation that 50% of your time will be spent onsite.

**The key responsibilities of this Head of Academic Finance are as follows**:

- Be an active member of the Finance Departments leadership team, identifying and contributing to initiatives to support the strategic development of the Finance Department
- Contribute to the development of 3 year financial plans, annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, ensuring systems and processes are fit for purpose and dynamic, while gaining maximum value for money
- Oversee and develop the college finance teams and seek to improve the service where possible
- Support UAL change programmes, representing college interests and requirements to ensure the change is a success for all parties
- Develop robust systems and processes that can be used consistently across the colleges to deliver all aspects of financial management
- Understand the needs of the college executive teams and ensure that the college-based finance teams are delivering appropriate information, advice and support
- Review existing operational process and procedures and redesign these where necessary to optimise the use of existing resources and drive efficiency
- Develop the process for resource allocation at the colleges which will drive the delivery of the University’s strategy
- A full professional accounting qualification
- Experience of working in a fast-moving financial environment, working to key milestones and delivering comprehensive results to tight deadlines
- Experience of working with large data sets, ability to write and develop financial models and reports using excel at an advanced standard
- Experience of working across a large complex organisation and successfully influencing and managing change
- Experience of leading and managing a large team to deliver agreed objectives and goals
- Brilliant communication skills, experience being a driver for change and bringing about continuous improvement
- Ideally, a background working in the higher education or wider public sector, but this is not essential
