Lead Hand

Georgian Paving Ltd. is a leading civil construction paving contractor in Simcoe County, and our diversification allows us to manage various projects from provincial highways, county, township, city and commercial servicing. Our people take pride in determining our customers construction/paving requirements, providing cost effective solutions, and managing the project to ensure customer satisfaction.

Reporting to the Supervisor, the job of the Lead Hand is to assist the Supervisor with responsibilities, overseeing staff and construction operations with tasks related to production in a safe and efficient manner.

**Responsibilities**:

- Effectively supervise staff, providing regular feedback and assignment of duties.
- Tracking quantities for production and payment.
- Conduct "tail gate" safety talks with staff to review policies and practices.
- Ensure safety practices are followed by the crew.
- Flexibility with work assignments and resources such as equipment and materials.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Lead hand experience.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to engage and work with the construction crew.
- Effective communication verbal and written skills.
- Good knowledge and understanding of construction procedures.
- Valid driver's licence with a clean abstract and daily access to a vehicle.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
- Use of personal protective equipment is required.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and evening shifts as the schedule demands.
