Position: Formulation Chemist

Location: Chester

Hours: Monday - Friday between 8am-5pm

**Salary**: £35,000 PA

My client is currently seeking a formulation chemist to join a busy production/manufacturing company.

About the role:

- To ensure that all laboratory operations are carried out in a safe, controlled manner and that all relevant procedures are followed
- To ensure all Raw Material Specifications/ test methods are kept up to date
- To ensure that all in-process testing is carried out efficiently
- To ensure that all finished product testing is carried out efficiently and that any quality issues are addressed quickly with the relevant person
- To ensure that all relevant laboratory formulation sheets are filed and stored in an orderly fashion
- To ensure that all raw material and finished product samples are stored and disposed of as per schedule
- To ensure that all non-conforming product is dealt with by the appropriate procedure
- Ensure all equipment is maintained, calibrated & serviced as required
- Maintain laboratory chemicals, consumables & glassware stock levels
- To ensure all MSDS/SDS and specification records are in place and reviewed for laboratory chemicals
- Provide holiday / absence cover for laboratory staff as required. Monitor holiday and absence records
- To expedite as required, the Company disciplinary procedure in liaison with the Human Resources Manager
- To carry out any relevant specific project work set by the Sales Team & Development Manager
- Draw up the weekly R & D plan for customer sample requirements and report to Development Manager
- Liaise with customers regarding sample requirements, technical queries, and general product queries.
- Prepare all samples as required by customers and the Sales department
- Issues laboratory approved formulations
- Ensure the continual development of new products and innovations
- Oversee first production runs for new and existing products to ensure agreed specifications are met
- To attend any Customer / Product Development Meetings as required
- Proactively inspect the laboratory equipment and operations to identify any potential hazards
- To ensure that all laboratory staff are managed and motivated on an ongoing basis throughout the duration of their shift, continued training and competent in all areas

Skills and Requirements:

- Previous experience gained within a similar role
- Attendance of Exhibitions when required around the world in representation of the company
- Experience of completion of internal and external audits on behalf of the Company - includes Soil Association/COSMOS audits, ISO 22716 GMP audits, RSPO Audits and any other certification the Company holds
