**Senior Legal Counsel - **The Role:
Provide overall legal support within the global legal department focusing on global payments processing laws and regulations while working to further the company’s overall culture of legal compliance and embed the company’s values.

**Senior Legal Counsel - **Key Responsibilities:

- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating third-party customer, supplier, financial, and other contracts on behalf of the company. Including but not limited to merchant agreements, ISO / introducer agreements, re-seller agreements, NDAs, outsourcing agreements
- Working on new product launches and advising from conception to delivery ensuring that business delivery dates are met
- Advising on data protection issues
- Working alongside with and providing counsel to all areas within the company on a variety of legal issues, including the ability to work with stakeholders in all different teams as well as senior executives within the UK and Malta
- Proactively being able to advise and articulate legal risks associated with different contracts as well as being able to effectively communicate any dependencies to meet business delivery deadlines
- Proactively keeping the General Counsel update on any material issues
- Researching and anticipating legal issues that could impact the company
- Providing training to the business teams and legal team on different legal and regulatory topics
- Help the legal team grow by providing appropriate governance, templates and implementing new processes
- Support the global payments risk, compliance, commercial, product and marketing functions

**Senior Legal Counsel - **You:

- Must have a law degree from a recognized university
- Must be admitted to a recognized bar (for a practical qualification)
- UK qualified lawyer with 5 years + of experience gained in large law firm and/or in-house with a major firm. In-house experience is preferred and experience in a fintech that is scaling is a bonus
- Must hold a current SRA practising certificate
- Commercial, pragmatic and business minded, someone who does not provide legal advice solely through a “black and white” academic lens
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
- A strong team player who is also able to work autonomously
- Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization’s legal department and across all departments within the business
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision while meeting varied deadlines
- Experience in payments or financial services preferred
- Knowledge of Visa and Mastercard card scheme rules is a bonus
- Ability to escalate matters when required
- Ability to prioritise matters effectively and meet business deadlines
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication with ability to explain complex requirements in a clear and concise way
