As a Border Force Officer within the Queen’s Warehouse (QW) you will be part the Operational Logistics Directorate providing a service 24 hour a day, 365 days a year to operations undertaken at the UK’s 140 seaports, airports, 200+ general aviation ports, postal depots and international rail network.

The nature of this work can be sometimes difficult and pressurised therefore, for this role, team working is imperative and making well balanced decisions is key.

This role will require you to carry out line management of Administrative Officers, including HR, finance and personal development.

You will work closely with key internal and external partners including Border Force, HMRC, National Crime Agency (NCA) and external contractors employed to store, move and dispose of seized goods.

This role involves a large amount of manual handling within a warehouse setting.

**Person specification**:
Key responsibilities include:

- Line Management responsibilities (of teams up to 5 Administrative Officers) including;
- Leading on attendance management procedures for self and your staff,
- Time And Attendance Management System (TAMs) completion, assuring and auditing TAMs/Flexi sheets completed of your staff.
- Leading apprentice activity to ensure apprentice training is met and recorded correctly.
- Supporting development, ensuring training requirements are highlighted and delivered for your staff as well as developing yourself.
- Understanding Performance Management strategy & prepare for regular Check-in meetings. Conduct monthly Check-in meetings for AO's
- Engaging with internal and external customers e.g. NCA, HMRC and Police, maintaining customer service. Act as escalation for issues.
- Responding to complex queries from Case Officers and partners.
- The manual handling of goods in and out of the warehouse up to 10kg. For items in excess of 10kg, the necessary equipment will be provided.
- Monitoring cases stored in the Queen's Warehouse (QW) and ensuring AO’s are following agreed processes for retaining seized goods and progressing to timely disposal with Case Officers.
- Using QW IT systems to process all receipts and disposals, ensuring accurate audit trails.
- Ensuring all documents relating to receipts and disposals are signed off accurately.
- Maintaining and leading on Health and Safety standards.
- Opening and closing and undertaking key holder duties, when required.
- Attending contractor sites and witnessing disposals of High Risk, High Value goods.
- Undertaking note book training and recording for potential court cases.
- Managing all items that are loaned to third parties for training purposes.
- Aligning with Border Force values and providing support to other Queen’s Warehouses when required.
- Working with Haulage, Storage and Disposal team to arrange disposals and give feedback to contractors.
- Conducting regular audits and assurance to maintain stock control levels.

You may be required to carry out other duties within the scope of your grade and within the limits of your skill, competence and training.
